Ellen Wiss is proud of her community, but she is excited about P.R.I.D.E.'s potential for making Columbia an even better city. She shares the common beliefs that children are the future and that the hope for real, lasting change lies in positively influencing our children. Through the universal attraction of sports, recreation, and play, she hopes all of Columbia's children will find the guidance and resources they need at P.R.I.D.E. She also hopes to see all community members working together to promote harmonious co-existence, embracing one another without judgment of color, cultural background, religious or political beliefs. In this way, Columbia can become a model community and positively impact surrounding communities. Additionally, Ms. Wiss relishes the opportunity to meet wonderful people that community involvement provides. She has built many relationships throughout the community as a Missouri United Methodist Church member, Columbia Chamber of Commerce member, Women's Network member, Columbia Board of Realtors board director, Rock Bridge High School Poms treasurer and fundraising co-chair, and chamber governmental affairs committee member. She has also been active in other aspects of the community in the past, as a volunteer and sponsor for the Worley Street Project, committee member for Changing The Odds, board member and volunteer for The Intersection, parent treasurer for Columbia Independent School, and both co-founding board director and treasurer for the Columbia Apartment Association.
