The Imani Mission Center is a faith-based interdenominational project that provides programs and services for entire community, especially disadvantaged youths and low-income families. The center’s volunteers strive to enable those who are hurting and in need with tools and support to help themselves as well as those around them. To meet this goal, the Imani Mission Center offers support groups, counseling, community outreach, on-site education and training, as well as social and recreational activities in a safe and positive environment to all members of the community.
In 2000, the Community Church of Christ purchased the building which now houses the Imani Mission Center, and Pastor Judy Hubbard founded the ministry. The Imani Mission Center is an urban ministry and community outreach project of the Jefferson City District of the Community of Christ Church, and Hubbard serves as the center’s director, as well. Although the Imani Mission Center is faith-based, all members of the community are welcome to participate in its programs, regardless of denomination or spirituality. The Imani Mission Center and its volunteers also work in collaboration with Destiny of H.O.P.E., community peace and justice advocacy group housed within the Imani Mission Center building, located in the heart of central Columbia near downtown and public housing areas.
