Volunteers

The P.R.I.D.E. vision is a community resource center where citizens and organizations work together to better the entire city and the lives of its individuals. P.R.I.D.E. is an outreach based on cooperating, collaborating, and volunteering to help fellow citizens learn the skills to help themselves. If you are interested in volunteering, please review the most needed volunteer positions below and contact P.R.I.D.E. for more information. If you do not see an area you feel comfortable or suited to volunteer in but would like to assist the P.R.I.D.E. effort in other ways, please contact P.R.I.D.E. There may be additional ways to contribute that are more suited to your skills and experience.

Mentors

Being an effective mentor requires a desire to understand and help others as well as sensitivity towards their different racial, ethnic, economic, educational, and religious backgrounds. Mentors listen to others, help them set goals, establish actions to achieve those goals, and assist in their processes of self-improvement in any way possible. Previous experience with children will help be a P.R.I.D.E. mentor, but it is not required. The most important requirement for being a mentor is the commitment to helping others.

Coaches

P.R.I.D.E. will offer basketball, wrestling, and boxing programs for the entire community, and both coaches and assistants for these sports are always welcome. Previous coaching experience is not necessarily required, but all P.R.I.D.E. coaches and assistants must maintain a positive and safe atmosphere for recreation at all times. The purpose of recreation through P.R.I.D.E. is to encourage and teach good skills in a fun environment.

Instructors and Tutors

P.R.I.D.E. will need academic instructors and tutors for both children and adult studies. Because the subjects of academic programs and individual tutoring needs vary, P.R.I.D.E. will need tutors and instructors in a variety of areas. If you are interested in teaching or assisting in education courses, please contact P.R.I.D.E. with a list of subjects you are knowledgeable of, your experience in those areas, and your contact information.
